How DocStoX works
DocStoX covers 6,800+ NSE & BSE stocks. We believe research you might act on should be inspectable, so this page explains — honestly — where our data comes from, how fresh it is, and how we turn it into ratios, scores and AI analysis.
Where our data comes from
DocStoX is a research layer built on top of public exchange data, regulatory disclosures and established financial-data aggregators. We do not originate market data; we aggregate, normalise, validate and present it. Here is each source and how current it is:
NSE & BSE (exchange data)
Covers: Share prices and daily OHLCV, corporate actions, bulk & block deals, F&O ban list, delivery data.
Freshness: End-of-day close plus periodic intraday snapshots. The full EOD chain runs after market hours (around 6:30 PM IST).
Aggregated fundamentals (Tapetide public API)
Covers: Company financials (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow), shareholding patterns, analyst ratings, forecasts, filings metadata and company profiles.
Freshness: Refreshed on daily and weekly cadences; a health monitor watches for staleness with automatic source failover.
AMFI (mutual-fund disclosures)
Covers: Mutual-fund equity holdings and which funds own a given stock.
Freshness: Updated on the schedule AMFI publishes monthly portfolio disclosures.
Note on aggregated fundamentals: our fundamentals provider re-packages data that originates with third parties (such as ScanX, Screener and BSE filings). We surface it because it is broad and consistent, but for a critical decision we recommend cross-referencing the company's official filings and the exchange websites.
A note on prices
DocStoX is a research tool, not a trading terminal. Prices shown are end-of-day closes plus periodic intraday snapshots — they are not a real-time streaming trading feed and may be delayed. Do not rely on a DocStoX price for time-sensitive order placement; use your broker's live quote for that.
How our research is produced
Scoring, ratios & verdicts are computed, not opinions
Our key ratios (PE, PB, ROE, ROCE, debt-to-equity, margins, growth) and the scoring engine are calculated deterministically from the underlying financial data — the same inputs produce the same output every time. Where an input is missing, a method is dropped rather than a number invented.
DoXy is an AI analyst — assistance, not advice
DoXy, our AI analyst, reads the same structured data and explains it in plain English. It is AI-assisted analysis that can be wrong or incomplete; it is not a human advisory service and does not know your personal circumstances. Treat its output as a research starting point, not a recommendation.
News carries an AI-generated impact score and summary
Market news items are summarised and assigned an impact score by AI models to help you triage what matters. These are automated signals — the linked original source remains the authority.
Deep dives
Some methods have their own detailed write-up:
- How we estimate fair value — the residual-income model behind every fair-value estimate.
- Editorial policy — how content is produced, our independence stance and sourcing standards.
- Corrections & feedback — how to report an error and how we fix it.
Accuracy & limitations
We run validation checks before storing data and monitor for staleness, but financial data can still be delayed or contain upstream errors. Ratios and scores are only as good as their inputs, and AI output can be wrong. Nothing on DocStoX is a promise about the future.
These lists are rules-based research, not buy recommendations. Rankings are generated from NSE & BSE data by a deterministic formula and do not account for your personal circumstances. For informational purposes only. Consult a SEBI-registered advisor before investing.
