Coast FIRE explained
You reach Coast FIRE when your current investments, left untouched, will compound into your full FIRE number by retirement. After that point you only need to cover current expenses — you can "coast" or take a lower-stress job (Barista FIRE).
The math
Coast number = FIRE number ÷ (1 + return)^(years to retirement). The earlier you hit it, the more powerful compounding becomes.
