About this data
FII (foreign institutional investors, also called FPIs) and DII (domestic institutions such as mutual funds, insurers and pension funds) report what they bought and sold in the cash market each session. Net flow is buying minus selling, in rupees crore. A positive number means that group bought more than it sold.
The sector chart shows foreign portfolio investor flows by sector, published fortnightly, so it updates less often than the daily cash figures. Derivatives positioning counts open futures and options contracts held long (betting on a rise) and short (betting on a fall) by each participant group.
