Product & Design

Redesign the experience of researching a single stock from scratch.

The problem

A stock page can be an overwhelming wall of numbers, or it can be a guided path from "I want to check a stock" to "I understand whether this is worth my attention." Most tools default to the former.

We want to see how you think about information hierarchy under real constraints: dozens of data points, a mix of casual and serious users, and no room for a 10-tab onboarding flow.

What to deliver

  • A redesign of the single-stock research experience — wireframes, a clickable prototype, or working UI, your call on fidelity.
  • A clear point of view on information hierarchy: what does a user see first, and why.
  • Reasoning for at least one deliberately unconventional decision — something you'd have to defend, not just a safe default.
  • Notes on how the design holds up for both a first-time casual user and a daily power user — they usually need different things.

What a good submission looks like

  • Makes and defends specific, sometimes uncomfortable decisions rather than presenting five safe options.
  • Shows the reasoning, not just the pixels — why this hierarchy, why this data first.
  • Considers real content — actual numbers, actual company names — not lorem ipsum.

How to submit

  1. Build your solution, using any tools or stack you prefer.
  2. Write up your thinking — decisions made, tradeoffs, what you'd do with more time.
  3. Zip your code + write-up, name it yourname-product-design.zip.
  4. Email it to us — the button below pre-fills the subject and a template.
