Bank credit to industry rises 18% in August, medium-industry lending jumps 32%: RBI

Bank credit to industry stood at Rs 47.95 lakh crore as of August 31, 2026, with lending to medium industries at Rs 4.89 lakh crore, micro and small industries at Rs 11.15 lakh crore and large industries at Rs 31.91 lakh crore. On a year-on-year basis, credit to medium industries grew 31.8%, followed by micro and small industries at 23%, while large-industry credit rose 14.9%.
