Kerala: Video Shows Youngsters Using Live Indian Rock Python To Play Jump Rope
Free Press Journal 3 hrs ago·17 Oct 2026, 3:15 pm
A video that went viral this week shows a group of school‑age children in Kerala playing jump rope with a live Indian rock python draped over their shoulders. The footage, captured on a smartphone, has sparked a debate over wildlife handling, animal‑welfare norms and local customs in the southern state.
For investors, the story matters because heightened scrutiny of wildlife protection can translate into tighter regulations for tourism operators, wildlife‑tourism businesses and related hospitality firms that rely on Kerala’s natural attractions. Market participants will be watching for official statements from the state forest department, any legal action against the participants, and whether the episode prompts broader policy reviews that could affect tourism footfall and related earnings.
