Worst Week in Six Years Ended With a Whisper

FIIs sold ₹11,490 crore in five days and Nifty posted its steepest weekly drop since 2020 — but today's own session was eerily calm, with VIX falling and breadth flattening while banks rallied into a strike threat.

Nifty closed at 23,035, capping what headlines call the biggest weekly drop in six years — yet today's session barely participated in the damage. The India VIX eased back to 12.16 from 12.69, breadth sat almost exactly even at 1,421 advances to 1,389 declines, and only two of eleven sector groups closed negative. The week was brutal; the day was not.
