FII Selling Hits Overdrive; DII Backstop Falls Short

Foreign investors pulled nearly 13,000 crore today — their heaviest single-session exit in weeks — and domestic buyers couldn't close the gap. The VIX spiked 10% to tell you what comes next.

Nifty closed at 22,599 after a bruising session that left every single sector in the red. This wasn't a rotation — it was an exit. Breadth inside the large-cap cluster was ugly: 29 Nifty 50 stocks declined against just 19 that advanced. The damage was worst in the quality tier next door, where Nifty Next 50 breadth collapsed to 0.34 — for every stock that rose, three fell.
