Research credits

What a research credit is, how many you get a day, how a question spends them, and where to see your balance.

Every question you ask DoXy, DocStoX's AI analyst, spends research credits. A credit is not one question: it is a small unit of the actual model cost behind the answer. A quick lookup costs a handful of credits; a deep, multi-step piece of research costs more. A typical research turn costs around 100 credits.

How many you get

FreePro
Credits per day5002,500

Your daily allowance resets at 00:00 UTC (05:30 IST). On top of the daily allowance, DocStoX also caps how many credits you can spend in a calendar month, as a backstop against sustained maximum use; that monthly cap resets on the 1st. Bonus credits earned from referrals sit in a separate pool that never expires and is spent only after your daily allowance runs out.

Where to see your balance

Open /usage to see your credit meter: how much you have used today, how much is left, when it resets, and your bonus balance. The same meter appears on your profile, under the Credits tab.

What happens when you run out

When you are out of credits, DoXy shows a message in the conversation itself, rather than a toast that disappears, with the time your allowance resets. If you are on Free, it also shows what Pro gives you; if you are already on Pro, it only shows the reset time, since there is nothing further to offer you.
