Developer mode, which is what adds a custom MCP server, is available on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu, on the web.

  1. Turn on developer mode

On chatgpt.com, open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.

  2. Create the app

Open Plugins, select + and create an app. Name it DocStoX, paste the server URL below, and choose OAuth for authentication.

  3. Sign in and allow

ChatGPT opens a docstox.com page. Sign in with Google or your DocStoX email and password, then click Allow.

  4. Turn it on in a chat

In a new chat, open the + menu, choose Developer mode and turn DocStoX on.

If the sign-in window does not open

Your browser likely blocked the pop-up. Allow pop-ups for chatgpt.com and click Connect again.

Getting ChatGPT to use DocStoX

If ChatGPT reaches for another tool instead of DocStoX, say so directly: "Use DocStoX for this."

Directory listing

ChatGPT also has an app directory where adding DocStoX would take one click. That listing is in review. Until it opens, developer mode is the way in.

If something goes wrong

See Troubleshooting MCP for a revoked connection, a quota message, or tools that do not show up.
