Portfolio

Add your holdings once and see live P&L, allocation, day change and the analytics DocStoX runs on them.

You get one portfolio. There is no create/switch/delete-another-portfolio screen: DocStoX sets it up the first time you visit Portfolio, and everything you add lands there.

Add your holdings

Open Add a trade to record a buy or sell by hand: symbol, quantity, price, date and, if you have them, fees. Each entry is a transaction, not just a position, so your holdings are always rebuilt from your actual buy and sell history.

If you would rather not type each trade, import a broker statement or connect your broker instead.

The sections

The portfolio page is a workspace with its own left-hand navigation:

  • Overview: what your book is worth right now, how it got here, and your five largest positions.
  • Holdings: every position, sortable and filterable by sector.
  • Performance: XIRR, CAGR and absolute return computed from your own ledger, plus allocation.
  • Transactions: your full buy and sell history, with dates, prices, fees, broker and notes.
  • Tax Report: FIFO-computed short and long-term capital gains, by financial year.
  • Import: bring in a broker statement, or connect a broker account.
  • Reports: download your holdings, transactions and capital-gains statements as CSV.

What each number means

The Overview page shows a ledger strip with five figures:

  • Invested: what you put into the positions you still hold, at cost.
  • Unrealized P&L: the gain or loss on positions you still hold, against their live price, with the percentage below it.
  • Realized P&L: the gain or loss you have already booked by selling.
  • Total P&L: unrealized plus realized, with the percentage against what you invested.
  • Holdings: how many positions you currently hold.

A right-hand panel (on a wide screen) adds Performance metrics: XIRR, CAGR, absolute return, and the date your ledger starts from. These come from the same calculation your Performance section uses, so the two can never disagree.

Allocation

The Allocation by sector panel on Overview groups your current market value by sector, computed from each holding's own sector and live-aware value. Sectors beyond the top four are combined into Others so the chart stays readable on a large book.

Tax report and reports

The Tax Report section computes short and long-term capital gains with FIFO (first-in, first-out) matching, broken down by financial year, and you can download it as a CSV. This report is for your own reference. It is not a filed tax statement, and DocStoX recommends checking it against your broker's contract notes before you use it to file.

Reports also lets you download your holdings statement and full transaction history as CSV.

Corporate actions

DocStoX checks your holdings against splits, bonuses, demergers, mergers, delistings and symbol changes, and flags any position that needs your attention. It only flags: nothing is applied to your ledger automatically, because DocStoX cannot always tell whether the quantity you imported already reflects the event.

Clearing your portfolio

You can clear all holdings and transactions from your portfolio and start again. This keeps the portfolio itself, but removes every position and every recorded trade, so use it only when you mean to start over.

Pro research on your book Pro

Beyond your own numbers, a Pro Research group in the left-hand navigation adds sections built from DocStoX's own analysis of your book:

  • Portfolio Health: a score for how the book is built, what is working and what DocStoX would change.
  • Investment Committee: five analyst personas vote on your holdings every night. See Investment committee.
  • Capital & Rebalance: where new capital would do the most for your book, and what a rebalance would change.
  • Stress Tests: what happens to your portfolio under named market scenarios.
  • Your rules: the limits you set for yourself, checked against your actual holdings.
  • Under the Hood: the market regime, portfolio timeline, conviction changes and history behind every verdict.

Free accounts see these sections in the navigation with a Pro tag. Opening one shows what it does and how to upgrade, rather than hiding it entirely.
