Global markets board
World indices, GIFT Nifty, gold, silver and crude on one board, and how often each figure refreshes.
On this page
/global-markets puts everything that moves around the Indian trading session on one page: MCX commodities, GIFT Nifty, Indian and sectoral indices, world indices, global commodities, and currency and bond-yield rates.
What is on the board
The board is organised into six groups:
- Commodities (MCX): gold, silver, crude oil, natural gas and copper, in the units MCX itself quotes them in: gold per 10 grams, silver per kilogram, crude per barrel.
- GIFT Nifty: the NSE IX Nifty future, which trades in GIFT City for close to round the clock and is the first hint of where the Nifty 50 may open.
- Indian indices: the Nifty 50, Sensex, Nifty Bank and other broad and sectoral NSE and BSE indices, and India VIX.
- World indices: major indices across the US, UK, Europe and Asia, each shown in its own local currency.
- Global commodities: gold, silver, Brent crude and WTI crude priced in US dollars per troy ounce or per barrel, the international benchmark alongside the MCX rupee price.
- Currency and rates: the USD/INR rate, the US Dollar Index, and the US 10-year Treasury yield.
Every row states its own currency and unit, because a price with no unit is not a usable number: MCX gold and COMEX gold, for example, are not comparable without knowing one is rupees per 10 grams and the other is US dollars per troy ounce.
How often it refreshes
The board refreshes about once a minute. DocStoX never labels a price on this board "live" or "real-time"; instead each row shows when that price was last seen, so you can judge its freshness yourself rather than trust a label. A row is marked stale if its market is open but no update has arrived recently.
Whether a row is currently trading depends on that market's own hours in IST. GIFT Nifty and the MCX commodities trade well outside NSE cash-market hours; world indices follow their own local sessions, which fall at different points in the Indian day or evening depending on the region.
