Bulk deals, block deals and insider trades
Who is buying and selling in size, and what promoters and directors are doing with their own shares.
On this page
Deals and Insider track large trades and the people closest to a company: who bought or sold a big block of shares, and what promoters, directors and designated employees did with their own holdings.
Bulk deals and block deals
A bulk deal is any single trade in a stock, on one exchange, in a day, that crosses a threshold set by the exchange. A block deal is a large trade arranged through a separate window with a minimum order size, usually done to move size without moving the market price during the day. Both are reported to the exchange and disclosed publicly on the day they happen.
Deals covers every bulk and block deal reported to the NSE. BSE publishes no comparable free feed, so this page is NSE only.
What the page shows
A summary strip at the top names the largest net buyer, the largest net seller and the most-active stock over the last 30 days, with a full breakdown (top 5 on each board, by net value) one click away. "Net" means bought minus sold over the window, not the bigger of the two sides.
The table itself can be filtered by:
- Type: bulk or block.
- Side: buy or sell.
- Deal size: a minimum value, from ₹10 lakh up to ₹10 crore.
- Date range, and a stock symbol search.
- Conviction only: hides deals where the same client bought and sold the same stock on the same day. Those are genuine NSE disclosures, mostly proprietary and arbitrage desks squaring off intraday, and DocStoX flags them rather than hiding them by default, since removing them removes most of the feed.
Each row shows the date, stock, client name, deal type, side, quantity, price and value, and the exchange. You can switch between a list and a timeline grouped by date, sort by date, quantity, price or value, and export the current filtered results as a CSV.
What is free
Signed-out visitors and Free accounts see the 5 most recent deals. Pro sees the full record, with filtering, sorting and CSV export.
Insider trades, SAST and pledges
Insider covers every insider filing NSE and BSE publish: promoters, directors and designated persons buying or selling their own company's shares, substantial stake acquisitions above 5% under the takeover code, and promoter shares pledged as loan collateral. Five tabs cover this from different angles:
- Insider Trades: the raw feed of transactions by promoters, directors and designated persons, filed under SEBI's insider trading regulations.
- Clusters: stocks where at least three different insiders filed within 90 days. One person trading is routine; several unrelated insiders buying or selling the same stock in a short window is a stronger signal, and this view counts distinct people, not filings.
- Deals ↔ Insiders: stocks where an insider filing and a bulk or block deal landed within 7 days of each other. A match means the two happened close together in time, not that the insider and the deal counterparty are connected or that the two are related in any way.
- SAST / Takeovers: disclosures of a stake crossing 5% or more, filed under the Substantial Acquisition of Shares and Takeovers regulations.
- Promoter Pledges: shares a promoter has pledged as collateral for a loan.
Reading an insider trade row
Each row names the stock, the person, their category (promoter, director, designated person), whether they bought, sold or pledged, the quantity, value and average price, their stake before and after the transaction, and the reporting period the filing covers.
Two extra columns describe what happened after the filing was disclosed, and DocStoX states plainly what they are and are not:
- Reaction is the raw price change 1, 5 and 30 trading days after the filing date. It is not adjusted for what the market did over the same window, so it is a return, not alpha.
- vs NIFTY subtracts the NIFTY 50's return over the same trading days (measured with the NIFTYBEES ETF). It is a plain difference of two returns, with no beta or risk adjustment behind it.
- Conviction compares the trade's size to that person's own prior holding. It cannot be computed when the prior holding was not disclosed.
What is free
Signed-out visitors and Free accounts see the 5 most recent rows on the Insider Trades, SAST and Promoter Pledges tabs, with filtering and sorting locked to Pro. Clusters and Deals ↔ Insiders are aggregated summaries and are not row-limited on either plan.
Source
Both feeds are built from disclosures NSE and BSE publish under SEBI's regulations: bulk and block deal reports, insider trading disclosures (PIT), Substantial Acquisition of Shares and Takeovers (SAST) filings, and pledge disclosures. DocStoX reports what was filed; it does not interpret intent behind any trade.
