Usage and limits
How many tool calls each plan gets, when the count resets, which tools are Pro, and where to see your usage.
On this page
Every tool call your AI assistant makes through DocStoX counts against a daily allowance tied to your DocStoX account, not to any one key or connected app.
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Tool calls per day | 50 | 5,000 |
| Tool calls per rolling 30 days | 1,000 | No separate cap |
The daily count resets at 00:00 UTC, which is 05:30 IST. The 30-day figure is a rolling window from today, not a calendar month, so it does not reset on a fixed date.
Two calls are never counted against your allowance:
read_me, the tool an AI client calls to learn how DocStoX's tools work, so a new session can always orient itself.- A call to a Pro tool while on Free. It returns an explanation of what Pro would return, instead of data, and that call costs you nothing.
Which tools are Free and which are Pro
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Prices, financials, ownership, news, flows, IPOs, your portfolio and watchlist | 57 tools in full | Included |
| Market-wide insider, pledge and superinvestor scans | First 3 rows | Full results |
| AI score, dossier, thesis, valuation, screens, setups, F&O analytics | Explained, not returned | Included |
The rule behind the split: reading a company you already named is free. Screening across the whole market to find one, and anything DocStoX has concluded rather than reported (fair value, the AI score), is Pro. A handful of market-wide scans (6 tools, such as insider trades and superinvestor holdings) sit in between: Free gets the first few rows so you can see the tool works, and Pro gets the rest. All 93 tools are listed in the tools reference, each marked Free, Preview or Pro.
A market-scan tool called with a specific stock, for example asking for one company's insider trades by name, is treated as the free lookup it is rather than the scan version.
When you go over the limit
The tool call fails with a message naming what you used and the limit:
DocStoX MCP quota exceeded (50/50 tool calls per day). Upgrade at https://docstox.com/pricing or try again later.
Wait for the daily reset, or move to Pro for a higher daily allowance and no separate 30-day cap.
Seeing what you have used
/mcp/keys shows, once you are signed in:
- Today's tool calls against your daily limit, and the last 30 days against your 30-day limit (Free only).
- A table of calls by tool, with how many were not served (Pro-locked, over limit, refused or unknown), and when each tool was last used.
- Which key or connected app made the calls.
