Freshness and update timings
When each kind of data updates during and after market hours, in IST.
Different kinds of data update on very different schedules: a quote moves every few minutes during market hours, while a company's shareholding pattern only changes once a quarter. This page lists when each kind refreshes, in IST.
| Data | Updates | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Live quotes | Roughly every 15 minutes during market hours | Same delay on Free and Pro. Not real-time, and not a trading terminal. |
| End-of-day prices, technicals | After market close, around 6:30 PM | The nightly chain also refreshes 52-week highs/lows, screener data and instrument metadata once prices land. |
| F&O bhavcopy, options analytics | Around 7:00 PM | Runs after the price chain, so it reflects the same day's close. |
| News | Every 5 minutes during market hours (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weekdays); every 30 minutes outside market hours, including weekends | Tighter polling while the market is open, when news moves prices fastest. |
| FII/DII flows | Twice daily, around 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM | The exchange itself sometimes delays publishing this data; when that happens DocStoX falls back to a public mirror rather than showing a stale number. |
| Bulk and block deals | Around 6:45 PM to 7:50 PM, across NSE and BSE | Same-day disclosures, once each exchange publishes its file. |
| Corporate actions (splits, bonuses, dividends) | Daily, around 6:10 PM | Feeds the price adjustment described in How prices are adjusted. |
| Shareholding pattern | Refreshed continuously through the day, but only actually changes once a company files its quarterly disclosure | Companies report shareholding quarterly under SEBI rules, so an individual stock's shareholding only moves when its own filing lands. See the filing-lag note below. |
| IPO tracker | Twice daily, around 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM | Covers live and upcoming issues, subscription figures and listing details. |
| Company financials | Refreshed as companies report, on a weekly sweep | A quarter's financials appear once the company has filed results and the sweep has picked them up, not on the results date itself. |
Filing lag on quarterly data
Shareholding, quarterly financials and similar disclosures are only as fresh as the company's own filing. A company that reports late, or a quarter that has only just closed, can show data for an earlier quarter on DocStoX until the newer filing is out and processed. This is a lag in when the company disclosed the number, not a delay unique to DocStoX; the same gap exists wherever that filing is read from.
See Where the data comes from for which source feeds each of these, and what DocStoX does when a source goes down.
