Notifications and email

The notifications page, the bell, alert pop-ups and the email preferences you can change.

DocStoX tells you about things three ways: the bell, a pop-up, and email. All three read from the same decisions, so they never disagree about what fired.

The bell and the inbox

The bell in the top bar shows your most recent notifications. Select it for a quick preview, or open Notifications for the full, persistent inbox.

The inbox is available to every account, and is actually richer than what you were emailed: it includes events that only ever reach a digest, not a standalone email. Filter it by All, Market, Portfolio or Account.

What gets produced differs by plan: Free accounts get account and system notifications (broker sync, achievements, price alerts). Pro adds the market and portfolio alert stream, with the reason each one fired.

Pop-ups

DocStoX occasionally shows a pop-up for the single most important thing that happened while you were away. It is deliberately restrained: at most one at a time, never more than once every six hours, never repeated for the same notification, and never shown at all while you are already on the Notifications page.

Email preferences

Manage what reaches your inbox at /settings/email. Account and billing email, such as receipts, password resets and security notices, is sent regardless and is not listed here. Everything else is a toggle:

  • Market Close Dispatch: the evening Newsletter edition, around 20:20 IST on trading days.
  • Market Open Dispatch: the pre-open Newsletter edition, around 07:50 IST. Off by default.
  • Personal portfolio alerts: only when something happens in a stock you hold or track.
  • Tips & getting more out of DocStoX: occasional, no more than once every three days.
  • Product & feature updates: when something new ships.

You can also choose how often you hear from DocStoX overall:

  • Important only: just the things that affect your holdings.
  • Daily: one Newsletter edition a day, plus anything urgent.
  • Twice daily: both Newsletter editions, if you have them switched on.

A single Unsubscribe from all marketing email control turns every stream off at once. Turning any individual switch back on afterwards resumes just that one stream.

If you opened your email preferences from a link in an email rather than by signing in, the link carries a one-time token so you can manage your preferences without logging in. That token only ever manages email preferences; it cannot be used to sign in or reach anything else in your account.
